European Parliament, Strasbourg, France

In June, 2023, serving as a co-facilitator with the UNODC YouthLed Integrity Advisory Board members during the European Youth Event held at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France, TBFA’s Executive Director and other facilitators, actively engaged in the Educate. Engage. Empower Youth against Corruption event, speaking to over 100 European youths. Using Forum Theatre, formal and informal methods were employed to teach young people about integrity, ethics, and corruption, aiming to cultivate a generation of anticorruption champions across Europe.

Designing Youth Against Corruption Campaign for Ghana

At the invitation of the Office, in November 2023, our Executive Director contributed insights to designing the Youth Against Corruption module for the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) – a specialized independent anti-corruption state institution in Ghana. As a resource person, his consultation included sharing ideas with the Strategy, Research and Communications (SRC) division of the OSP, to design a youth-focused anti-corruption program. The campaign/module seeks to incorporate anti-corruption requirements for student leaders and students in schools, and integrating anti-corruption measures into entry-level job onboarding processes

UN, Kenya

In June 2023, at the invitation of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) through its Global Resource on Anti-Corruption Education and Youth Empowerment (GRACE) initiative, Along with other African youth, TBFA’s Executive  Director, Bright Ofori, significantly contributed to drafting youth-focused recommendations during the UNODC African Regional Dialogue in Kenya, which brought together young people, academia, and Civil Society Organizations. He helped develop the roadmap to strengthening the role of non-governmental actors (young people, academia, and civil society) in the fight against corruption, which was submitted by the Government of the United States of America in December 2023, during the Tenth Session of the Conference of the States Parties (CoSP10) to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) and marked the 20th Anniversary of UNCAC in Atlanta, USA.

Again, as the youth speaker at the UN Regional Headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya, our Executive Director represented African youth to discuss corruption, advocating for youth involvement in anti-corruption initiatives. Sharing a stage with Academia and CSO, he presented strategies for advancing the UN Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) regionally and nationally, emphasizing country-tocountry collaboration during the African Regional Dialogue in June 2023

29th Lisbon Forum

 In October 2023, Bright Ofori was invited by the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe to attend and share ideas during the 29th Lisbon Forum in Portugal, where he contributed to discussions on Human Rights, Environment, and Economic Crimes: Youth at the Forefront. He emphasized the strong link between corruption and the environment in Ghana, particularly through galamsey (illegal mining) which is destroying our country, and spoke on how European governments and organisations present can strengthen their laws to discourage its companies from purchasing minerals from illegal mining activities and supporting activities that make corruption and crime flourish. The report is to guide European governments and its people towards the fight against corruption and protecting the environment.
